My Devotion Today

"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil."  Psalm 23:4

We will not fear evil though we may walk through the valley of the shadow of death because Jesus is with us.  We can trust Him to be with us in every circumstance of life because He said, "Lo I am with you alway, even to the end of the end of the world."  Notice that He said 'through the valley' - not just 'to the valley.'  He will take us safely through every trial and circumstance of life. 

Also notice that a shadow is referred to - not death but the shadow of death.  Our trials may be severe but Jesus will see us through.  His presence will cause us to be confident and without fear.  His Spirit is with us to comfort and guide. 

Goodness and mercy, like two little sheep dogs, will follow us all the days of our life and we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

      Before the Lord I did bow.

      I will fear no evil now.

      For the valley holds no dread-

      Through it with Jesus I will tread.
