"...let thy words be few."  Ecclesiastes 5:2c

This verse primarily has to do with being careful and reverent before the Lord.  Weigh carefully what you vow to do.  Many times we need to do more listening than we do talking.  Also, this verse can stand out to us in our dealings with other people.

Sometimes, when we are tired or feel vexed with someone or something, we would do well to let our words be few.  We might say something we will regret if we say too much under stress.  That's one reason it's very important to trust the Lord to tame our tongue and inspire our words.

No man can tame your tongue.  Only the Lord can do that.  May He evermore do this for you and me.  "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer."

Sometimes our speech must be bold,

And again, our peace we must hold.

Dear Lord, give me wisdom I pray

To speak or withhold what I'd say.
