"...The Lord loved him." II Samuel 12:24b
What a special tribute for anyone to have said about him ‑ the Lord loved him (or her). And in reality each of us has had that said about us: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Each of us as individuals is loved by the Lord. God is love.
The fact that Jesus left the splendor of Heaven to come to earth and become one of us shows that He loves us. The fact that He went about doing good after He grew up shows that He loves us. The fact that He allowed Himself to be taken by an angry mob, arrested and finally crucified proves that He loves us. The fact that He is coming again to take us to live with Him forever proves that He loves us. Let us love Him and serve Him today and evermore.
The Lord loved him, it has been said,
Which I am sure made his heart glad.
God loves me too, so I am told;
He sent His Son to save my soul.
