"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." Proverbs 25:11
Our words to others can be pleasant to them; they can be like a lovely, bright picture. Helpful words can lift hearts that are bowed in sorrow and pain. God's Word, fitly spoken, can cause the heart to rejoice and set the spirit free.
How many times have we been smitten by some trial or sorrow, and someone was there with a comforting word or a written poem or scripture that helped to ease the burden and pain.
In one scripture we are told to comfort others with the words that were used to comfort us in our time of need. We are often put through a trial ourselves for the purpose of helping others. Those comforting words we received will be just what someone down the road needs to hear.
May the Lord guide and guard our words so that they will be fitly spoken and be like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
May Thy Spirit help me say
A word that is fit to show the way.
Others' loads I want to lift;
Grant me, Lord, this blessed gift.
