"He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." Philippians 2:8
Jesus became a servant for us. He even died on a cross so that we could be saved. It took a lot of love for Him to leave such a beautiful place as Heaven to come to an earth full of sin. When we think of the glory and splendor of Heaven, we can appreciate the greatest love ever known. Let us be glad that He cared enough to obey the Father.
If you appreciate His work of love, you will want to obey His word today. The way of the cross leads home. There is no other way to get to Heaven except through the blood of the old rugged cross.
People have tried to do good works to make themselves Christians; they have tried many other ways too but none of them worked. It was God's plan that Jesus, the only one able to do it, would humble Himself and become obedient to the death of the cross. We only have to accept God's finished work on the cross to become His children.
He died for me, O blessed thought,
Christ went to Calv'ry in my place,
Lowly in death my pardon bought,
Obedient ... to offer Grace.
