"For in that He Himself has suffered being tempted, He is able to succour them that are tempted." Hebrews 2:18
Because Jesus went into the wilderness and was tempted by the devil and overcame the devil and his temptations, He is able to help us. Since He was victorious in His temptations, when we put our trust in Him, He will cause us also to be victorious in our temptations.
Every temptation can be put into one of three groups: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life. Each group was represented in three temptations of Jesus Who won the victory in each group.
Aren't you glad our Savior has all power and is willing to help us in every situation of life! Let's show our appreciation by the way we live. May we not despair when trials and tests come our way, but ever look to Jesus for the support and grace we need.
In temptations and trials I meet,
Our enemy tries to defeat.
But Christ won the victory complete;
My cares I will lay at His feet.
