My Devotion Today

"Lovest thou Me? John 21:17
Jesus asked one of His disciples this question long ago. In a time of weakness, the disciple had denied that he knew the Lord. He had felt remorse and sorrow of heart for his failure. Now Jesus was restoring full fellowship with him and in doing so, the Lord wanted him to search his heart to see if he really loved Jesus.
Today He is asking you the same question. Do you really love Him? Is He first in your life? Is He more important than anything or anyone to you?
The Lord wants to be your God, your Savior, your friend - "a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." In order for you to do God's will, Jesus must mean more to you than anything. As you search your heart, may you be able to say as a true disciple, "Thou knowest that I love Thee."
May my love for You be pure.
Make my footsteps calm and sure.
Thy commandments help me keep.
Let me feed Thy lambs and sheep.
